We both sit on the board of an NGO called Built It Africa. During one board meeting we came up with a unique fundraising idea. So we named it and branded it, and are planning Beer for Water events in Washington, Oregon and California. The ideas is that we’d partner with some of our favorite tap houses and brewmasters to create positive change in our local and global communities through the power of delicious beer. For every beer served at one of our events a large percentage of the sales go to building water wells in Ethiopia (where Built It Africa is focused on community development projects – which all begins with the access to clean water within their villages). Here’s how it works: The pub that holds the event is busy (on an otherwise empty night), it’s brand is giving back, it gets a tax deduction, and money is being raised for a great cause… all while enjoying everyones favorite local beer. Win, win, win!
